Ancient Signs traces the origins of the first alphabets to syllabic writing. In the course of analysis there is also discussion of ancient scripts, languages, and related cutting-edge issues of history. A syllabic grid of ancient signs is presented, showing the shared origins of ancient syllabic language signs for Sumerian, Pharaonic Egyptian, Old Elamite, Luvian (Luwian), Linear B, and the Cypriot Syllabary. Also included are the signs and symbols on the Phaistos Disc and the Axe of Arkalochori.
