Earlier in Nigeria Pidgin English language has been restricted for many of its speaker. This study is intended to explore Bola Johnsons significance, in promoting Pidgin English language used in Wakabout. This seeks to expand the horizon of social political participation by assessing how Pidgin English in Wakabout column influences the study of Pidgin English language as spoke in Nigeria today. Other studies done on Wakabout article by other experts in Pidgin English language, only this study focuses on the origin of corpus used in Wakabout articles. The issue of degradation and agitations by the elites against the use of pidgin English is also dealt within this study. Bola Johnson’s as best Pidgin English speaker cannot be fully well established without touching his numerous highlife musical hits of the 70s till his last day. Bola Johnson musical aspect is also dealt with original interviews with his own words that led to the Analytical aspect of this book. Oluwagbemiga Ogboro-Cole, born in Lagos State Nigeria, his father is a native of Ayede in Okitipupa of Ondo State. His mother Ejide originated from Egba Alake in Abeokuta, Ogun state, Nigeria. Oluwagbemiga is the author of the popular “Mami-Wata short stories in Nigeria Pidgin English” got a scholarship from Goethe Institute Nigeria to study in Germany. He had his Master degree (MFA) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. He stated his dissertation in Mainz. He later moved with his renowned Ethnomusicologist Professor Dr. Wolfgang Bender to Hildesheim University, Hildesheim Hannover, where he graduated as Doctor of Philosophy (Dr.phil.). Oluwagbemiga Ogboro-Cole has done translations, transcription and has assisted in some vital Pidgin English documentations. He has as well written articles in Pidgin English in journals and has been involved in various Pidgin English and Yoruba projects on Nigerian musical text. He is a member of the following international associations: African Literature Association (ALA USA), African Studies Association (ASA USA) and Nigeria Museums Society (NMS Nigeria).
