Werner Finke spent over 30 years ethnographically documenting the everyday culture of the Kurds in Turkey. He traveled to the Kurdish regions almost every year and created a comprehensive multimedia documentation and an ethnographic collection for the Weltmuseum Wien. Apart from a few smaller presentations and a larger exhibition, his multimedia material has remained unseen to date. This publication accompanies the digital release of large parts of the collection. In addition to a biographical presentation, the publication offers insight into the extensive collection, contextualizes it in the field of Kurdish Studies, discusses transformation processes in Kurdish everyday cultures since Finke’s collecting activities, and shows ways of realizing possible further scientific use.
