From the beginning of the 20th Century, Japanese Criminal Law has especially been influenced by the theories of German Criminal Law. Many categories of criminal offenses like causation, intention or negligence are based on the German theories. However the theoretical differences between the theories of both countries have to be explained in the light of social structure and culture.
