The Qurʾān’s three "Arabic" prophet stories have been largely overlooked by research. What are the origins of the narratives of Hūd and the people of ʿĀd, Ṣāliḥ and the Thamūd, and Shuʿayb and the people of Midian? How did they take their final form in the Qurʾānic context, and how are they interpreted?
